2017年6月，人大科哲特聘教授卡尔•米切姆(Carl Mitcham)与博士生张亢赴欧洲参加了两次国际学术会议，分别是：2017年6月12日至13日在荷兰特文特大学（University of Twente），由4TU技术与伦理研究中心(Centre for Ethics and Technology)举办的主题为Ethics of Technology: The Future agenda的会议，以及2017年6月14日至17日在德国达姆施塔特工程大学(Technische Universitat Darmstadt)，由技术哲学学会(SPT)举办的主题为The Grammar of Things的会议。此次张亢参会，得到了人大科哲和科罗拉多矿业大学的部分资助。原人大科哲硕士生、现阿姆斯特丹大学博士生王豪也参加了上述会议。

为时两天的Ethics of Technology: The Future agenda包括了6个子会议，主题分别为：The past, presence, and future of Ethics of Technology; Technology and Life; Technology and the public sphere; Technology and Moral Philosophy; Technology and risk; Parallel workshops on Robotics and Risk, Safety and Security。米切姆报告题目是：The Ethics of Technology: Thinking Big and Small, and Big again。

为期4天的The Grammar of Things共举办了59个规模不同的子会议，内容丰富且多学科交叉综合。博士研究生张亢担任了Classics子会议的主持，此子会议包括三个报告，分别是： Rayco Herrera(西班牙)的 Gunther Anders and the “Promethean Gap”：Imagination as a Moral Task; Liu Zheng(中国)的Chuang-tze’s Philosophy of Technology and the Technology Mediation Theory; Christiano C. Cruz(巴西)的Brazilian Popular Engineering and the Responsiveness of Technical Design to Social Values.米切姆则做了同题的学术报告。
